Accomplishments
Local’s first project Skyholm, built in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, was awarded the highest available quality rating by National New Home Warranty. It was also rated among the top three homes in the Province of British Columbia for energy efficient air exchange. As a result, local was awarded funding from FortisBC and the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Natural Gas through their Super-Efficient New Construction initiative, developed to build and analyze energy efficient housing in British Columbia.
Local then constructed Bedford RoadHouse a triplex in Nelson, British Columbia, using the stringent guidelines of Passive House. Passive House is the most aggressive energy efficiency strategy in the world, reducing total energy use by 80-90%. Its efficacy has been proven in the construction of over 40,000 buildings world wide. It is a strategy that results in high quality buildings that last longer and feel better. Bedford RoadHouse triplex contains 3 of only 8 certified Passive Houses in Canada.
